M.E. (Ted) Johnson, USN
Ted Johnson, USN, Ret.
"He joined the US Navy during the great depression and was an Aviation Mech onboard the USS Tennessee. He went to Flight School in Pensacola, PL. and received his wings in 1937. He was commissioned at the out break of WWII and flew PBY's on Patrol in the Aleutian Islands. Later, he flew Air Sea Rescue in the South Pacific where he earned several Air Medals and the Silver Star. He was one of the "Silver Eagles". He was promoted to Captain, USN upon his retirement. He was an early promoter of the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola where he lived. Some of his personal items were donated to the Museum and he is on the Role of Honor in the "Silver Eagles" display. One of the PBY's on display is in his Flight Log. He passed away Oct. 15, 1998, just short of 90 years old.
The oldest picture was taken in the mid 1930's and the other is in his Full Dress Blues."

Sherwin Vine
Served in Company A. 55th Armored Infantry Btn, 11th Armored Div, 3rd Army (Patton) from 1942 to 1945. He was a Staff Sergeant & Squad Leader. During his service he received the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, & 3 Battle Stars - ETO. Notably, he served in combat during the Ardenness Campaign (Battle of the Bulge).
A grateful nation remembers you Sherwin.
